[Summary]
I regularly visit Kickstarter and Indiegogo to find innovative products that I could test. So far I've supported 9 products and only one hasn't led to anything (but that can still change).

Among the 9 products I have bought, I bought 4 projectors, two from Xgimi, one Nebula and now the Gazer.

The Gazer went into crowdfunding on Indiegogo at the beginning of May 2020 and should be delivered in August 2020. There are often delays in such projects but so far Gazer seems to be on schedule.

7/05/20 purchase of the Gazer projector on Indiegogo at 149€.

Why this projector?

I set up a projection room in my house and I never watch TV anymore, the projector has replaced the traditional TV. This way I can test projectors under good conditions.

Why the Gazer? The price. For barely 149€ I have a portable 1080p projector that delivers a brightness of 800 ANSI, it's unheard of. It will probably cost more once launched but at this price, I had to try it.

What's so special about this projector? It has a spherical format that allows an easier orientation than a block projector.

On paper this projector offers above average brightness for a portable projector. The projection size is also above average at 240 inches.

Gazer has posted a demo on YouTube:

The demo allows you to make a few points:
- the projector is quite big, which is reassuring because small formats are generally not bright.
- the projector doesn't seem to be running on an official version of Android TV, we have to see if this will change on the production version
- the image adjustment possibilities are numerous
- the brightness looks pretty good.
- the colors look a little cold but the video was filmed with a smartphone.
- the sound seems powerful
- the definition looks good

Projection room

My projection room is rectangular, 4.6m x 2.9m (height 2.2m). The projection wall is a normal wall on which I have applied white paint without any particular treatment. The walls on the side are darker (dark grey and red) to accentuate the contrast with the white wall and avoid too much light reflection. I have the possibility to place a projector at the back of the room at a distance of about 4m from the screen. I also have the option of placing a short-throw projector at the foot of the wall. I don't have a dedicated installation for sound, I just use a sound bar from Xiaomi.
